## [Chaparral Dog Park](https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/parks/dog-parks)

Scottsdale's most popular dog park with grass, shade, and play features

Chaparral Park, Central Scottsdale

Chaparral Dog Park is Scottsdale's premier off-leash destination and it's not hard to see why. Three acres of real grass (a luxury in the desert), separate areas for large and small dogs, shade structures, benches, play features, and water fountains for both humans and dogs. It's well-maintained by the city and attracts a regular crowd of dog owners who form a genuine community. Mornings and evenings are the busiest times. Reddit consistently calls this the best dog park in the area.

## [Horizon Dog Park](https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/parks/dog-parks)

Smaller park with shade and water features in a retention basin

Horizon Park, Central Scottsdale

Horizon Dog Park is a smaller off-leash area located in a retention basin on the west end of Horizon Park. It has a large shade structure, water fountains for dogs and people, and a water feature to control dust. It's less crowded than Chaparral, which is either a pro or a con depending on what your dog prefers. Note that this area can flood after storms, so skip it after heavy rain. A solid option for dogs who do better in smaller, calmer settings.
